Rotary Club Wheels in Motion at George Whitten Elementary

George Whitten Elementary 3rd grade Student Leticia Rodriguez was awarded a bicycle for good citizenship by the Hendersonville Rotary Club’s Wheels in Motion program. Leticia was nominated by her teacher Beth Freeman. Awards are made monthly to deserving students at George Whitten and Gene Brown elementary schools. Teachers nominate the students to receive the bikes, based on being good students, good citizens, and helping their teachers and other students.

In addition to the Wheels In Motion Program, the Hendersonville Rotary Club supports Sumner County education in a number of other ongoing projects including Educator of the Month and Youth Merit Scholar awards, Scholarships to Volunteer State, the Wally Nichols Memorial Scholarship, mentoring at risk students, weekend backpack programs, Dictionaries for Third Graders, Rotary Youth Exchange, RYLA, Interact, Rotaract, and Compass.
